CGMB Heads to The 2018 Arnold Sports Festival

Rick Collins to Present at the Arnold Performance Education Forum on March 2nd

CGMB will once again be playing an active role as sponsors and attendees at the upcoming Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio from March 1st through March 4th – which this year is celebrating its 30th anniversary and which has grown into the largest multi-sport event in the world. This year, not only will Rick Collins and Jay Manfre be joining with leaders in the supplement industry and athletes worldwide throughout the event, but Rick Collins will be serving as a Guest Speaker at The Arnold Performance Education Forum – an exciting educational component that has been added to this year’s event that will feature top speakers from across the country addressing key topics in health and fitness.

Rick’s presentation at The Arnold Performance Education Forum – “Fitness Law 101” – will take place on Friday, March 2nd at 11 a.m. at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Rooms D180-181. His presentation will address ways that fitness professionals may be the target of a lawsuit, and will provide valuable insight on how fitness professionals today can protect themselves and avoid being sued. In addition to sharing specific case examples highlighting various legal issues facing fitness professionals today, he will also share his knowledge about the legalities of providing nutrition advice and the regulations surrounding dietary supplements and PEDs

This year marks the launch of the Arnold Performance Education Forum as part of The Arnold Sports Festival. The Education Forum was created to provide attendees with a forum to learn about the methods and science behind the athletics from top speakers in strength and conditioning, sports nutrition, rehabilitation, fitness and health, and sport sciences. The forum is open to all attendees, including athletes, coaches and fitness enthusiasts. Rick, a former competitive bodybuilder, has been a consistent presence at the Arnold Sports Festival, often speaking about issues involving dietary supplements law, and is excited for this opportunity to serve as a guest speaker at the launch of the Performance Education Forum at this year’s event. The 2018 Arnold Sports Festival is expected to draw more than 200,000 sports and fitness fans to watch 18,000 athletes compete in 75 sports and events, including 17 Olympic events, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus, the Ohio Expo Center and other Central Ohio venues. The weekend will also feature the 2018 Arnold Fitness EXPO, held from March 2 – 4 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, where more than 1,000 booths will showcase the latest in sports equipment, apparel and nutrition, as well as feature numerous competitions throughout the weekend. The Arnold Sports Festival has been co-produced by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Lorimer since 1989, when it debuted as a one-day bodybuilding competition known as the Arnold Classic, and has grown to be the largest multi-sport event in the world — attracting leading athletes and fitness professionals worldwide.

In addition to Rick’s presentation, Rick and Jay will be meeting with key players in the area of sports nutrition throughout the event to discuss some of the latest developments surrounding supplements and the law, and providing attendees with insight into the increased focus on FDA compliance and current FDA regulations in the supplement industry. As the nation’s largest health and fitness exposition, the Arnold Fitness EXPO offers an important look into the newest trends in the sports nutrition industry, and each year provides a great opportunity for attorneys in the firm’s Dietary Supplement Division to discuss some of today’s most critical legal issues regarding dietary supplements and sports nutrition.
